Acoustic and Electrically Shielded Measurement Environment

To reduce unwanted acoustic and electrical noise, a special room enclosure was built into the lab space. This further reduces mechanical and electrical noise, and supplements the three levels of vibration isolation already in place in the measurement system, to allow us to observe the weakest of tunneling signals. All controls for the STM and magnet system are located in the control room, outside of the enclosure.
